  • What is Oasis?

The vision for OASIS is that it will be a safe refuge where all people will be supported and embraced. You will be able to connect with people just like you; people who understand where you are at – and where hearts and lives will be forever changed. OASIS is a place, a space in time, meant to move people into emotional and spiritual wellness – a place of healing. It is a place of unconditional love. An opportunity to find peace and joy and an opportunity to move toward living life more abundantly. OASIS will be a place to get real and be real; to discover your identity in Christ and live it.

    Is Oasis for me?

OASIS will help you find the path to freedom by helping to break down walls on the inside that build up because of wounds that have been inflicted in the past. Whether struggling with an addiction, managing your anger, dysfunctional or compulsive behaviors, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or just the daily grind of life – OASIS seeks to be a place where these chains will be forever broken. OASIS is a place for you. Caring people are waiting to meet you there.

What will I do at Oasis?

OASIS begins with an uplifting time of songs, worship, and praise. You will be welcomed into a small group with other people who have had or are living in situations similar to your own. There will be a time for sharing experiences, struggles, strengths, and hope. Guiding principles will be used to engage everyone in a Christ-centered, life-renewing process. You will have the opportunity to find an accountability partner – someone to walk alongside you, encourage you, and keep you on the path of inner healing.

    Who will facilitate my group?

Our group’s facilitator will be someone who has walked in your shoes, having gone through a similar hurt, addiction, habit, or temptation. Your facilitator will be healthy and recovered, stable and balanced. He or she will be open and authentic, a good listener, passionate about helping you on your own journey, and will usually be a member of St. Luke. Facilitators care so much that they are willing to give their time and open their hearts and shine Christ’s love into your life.

    What will happen to me?

Come to OASIS with an open heart and a willingness to change and you will be changed. Your heart and soul will be renewed. You may even be transformed. You may feel your burdens become noticeably lighter. You may discover what it means to live in peace. You may build new friendships. Come and see what is in store for you!

    Oasis Commitments

A key element for ensuring that OASIS is a safe refuge is that all participants commit to the following:
    • Agree to maintain the anonymity and confidentiality of all members of my group. What is shared in the group remains in the group.
    • Agree to encourage and support the members of my group and not give them advice.
    • Agree to do all I can to create an atmosphere of trust in the group.
    • Agree not to use “crosstalk,” engaging in a conversation during group time that excludes others.
    • Agree to respect what each person has to say without interrupting.
    • Agree to keep my sharing focused on my own thoughts and feelings and not monopolize group time.
    • Agree to be open and authentic with the members of my group.
    • Agree to let other group members confront me in love so that I can grow.
    • Agree to inform my facilitator of any physical and/or emotional problems that might affect my participation.
These commitments will help to create a safe place of authenticity – an Oasis where hearts and souls are renewed, lives are rebuilt, and relationships are restored.
